Lahore: Use of modern technology is being promoted for improving the service delivery of Irrigation Department and cooperation of international development institutions has been sought for this purpose.
This was stated by Secretary Irrigation & Managing Director PIDA Capt. (Retd.) Saif Anjam while presiding over departmental meeting. Additional Secretary (Technical) Khalid Hussain Qureshi, Additional Secretary (Operation) Malik Saleem, Additional Secretary (Admin) Syed Waseem Jafari, Chief Monitoring Habib Ullah Bodla, General Manager PIDA Afzal Anjam Toor, Director (Reforms) Muhammad Aamir Khan and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Secretary Irrigation told the meeting that the flow of water in the canals of the province is checked and uploaded on the website on daily basis so that the concerned departments and farmers could benefit from it.
Similarly, monitoring teams send factual position and other information to the headquarters through online for immediate redressal of complaints of water theft received on Toll free Number 0800-11333. He said that departmental action is taken against the officials showing poor performance.
Secretary Irrigation said that satellite monitoring of the canals would be started soon through which correct information regarding discharge data will be received.
