Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh. Salman Rafique has said that no polio case has been detected in Punjab during the current year and officers and health workers of Health Department are making their best efforts to keep the province polio free. He said that a special polio campaign has been launched in 72 sensitive union councils of Lahore.
He was talking to media men at administering anti-polio drops to children on the second day of anti-polio campaign in Rajgarh Area here today. EDO Health Lahore Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, concerned Deputy District Health and other officers were also present.
Kh. Salman Rafique said that the environmental sample of Lahore was positive in the month of April after which a special campaign against polio has been launched in 72 union councils of Lahore during which six lakh 72 thousand children will be vaccinated against polio. He said that four thousand health workers are participating in the campaign and mobile teams are administering anti-polio drops to the children by paying door to door visits.
Kh. Salman further told that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is determined to keep Punjab polio-free. He said that people are extending all out cooperation for the success of polio campaign, however, other provinces will also have to pay attention to this issue so that polio could be eradicated from the whole country.
