Bilal Yasin presides over Cabinet Committee meeting on Price Control

Minister Food Bilal Yaseen 20-5-14Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food & Price Control Committee, Bilal Yasin has said that Punjab government has announced to provide daily use items at cheaper rates during the month of Ramazan.

He said that dates, potato, sugar, cooking oil, ghee, atta and gram pulse will be provided on subsidized rates through fair price shops. He said that chicken and eggs will be available in Ramazan bazaars Rs.15 less than the open market whereas a subsidy of Rs.10 will be provided on ghee and cooking oil. He said that two thousand Madni Dastarkhawans will be set up during sehri and aftari throughout the province for providing the facility of free sehri and aftari to the people.

He expressed this while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Price Control in Civil Secretariat. The meeting reviewed Ramazan Package in detail for providing quality essential items at cheaper rates to the people in abundance during the month of Ramazan ul Mubarak. Concerned secretaries and MPAs attended the meeting.

The Provincial Minister said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has announced Ramazan Package of Rs.5 billion for providing daily use items on affordable rates to the people in abundance through which atta bag will be available in Ramazan Bazaars and open market on subsidized rates. He said that 360 Ramazan Bazaars and 334 Fair Price Shops will be set up throughout Punjab for providing edible items at cheaper rates.

Bilal Yasin said that an effective monitoring of Ramazan Bazaars will be carried out for the provision of daily use items at cheaper rates in abundance. He said that no compromise will be made on the quality of vegetables, fruit and essential items. He said that a survey of cold storage is being conducted and details of articles are being collected.

He said that role of Cabinet Committee for the provision of ghee, sugar, gram flour, pulses, dates as well as other essential items at cheaper rates in abundance is of great importance, therefore, Cabinet Committee should evolve an effective mechanism in this regard.

The meeting also considered installing of CCTV cameras for monitoring Ramazan Bazaars and evolving an integrated mechanism for this purpose.
