Lahore: Ombudsman Punjab, Javed Mahmood inspected a number of newly established Regional Offices at district level to review requirements for the facilitation of complainants.
Ombudsman Punjab visited Regional Offices established at Nankana Sahib, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Bakkar and Sargodha and briefed the advisors and the staff about the methodology of receipt and disposal of complaints aiming at giving relief to the public.
Complainants need not to visit to Lahore to lodge their complaints as all the Regional Offices of Ombudsman Punjab at every district are totally functional. Ombudsman Office is in fact “a poor man’s court” where justice is dispensed without spending huge amount of money, said the Ombudsman Punjab. No compromise on the provision of relief to the complainant and we are determined in this regard, directed the Ombudsman.
He said that all the advisors posted at Regional Offices at every district would also act as District Commissioners for Children and minors, in case of violation of their rights or prevailing laws, can also lodge complaints to Advisors of concerned Regional Office.
The response from government agencies as well as from the public is much positive and encouraging which will lead us to accomplish our goals to eradicate maladministration from the government agencies, he hoped.
Ombudsman Punjab said that it is not mercy at all but I am duty bound to outreach the remote and backward areas the province of Punjab to redress their grievances. I will personally visit all Regional Offices of the Ombudsman in the province and ensure provision of required facilities for the cause of public service, announced the Ombudsman Punjab.
He told that “Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell” at all districts of the province have been set up to safeguard the rights of pensioners, collect their complaints and disposal of the same at district level and Advisors to Ombudsman Punjab at Regional Offices in each district have been made Incharge “Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell” of concerned district.
