GCU students mime importance of forests

GCULahore: The students of Government College University, Lahore Botany Department have mimed the importance of forests and botanic gardens for healthy human lives at their annual dinner at the university’s Bukhari Auditorium.

The overall concept of the mime and performances of students were met with a loud applause by faculty members and Old Ravians.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman was the Chief Guest at the department’s annual function, while Professor Rafi Chair Dr Muhammad Zakria Butt and Botany Department Chairperson Dr Ghazala Yasmeen Butt were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman underlined the need for sensitizing youngsters, scientists and researchers about the plight of continuously decreasing natural forests and the need for efforts and strategies to rehabilitate and conserve them. He also lauded the participation of GCU Botany Department students in healthy co-curricular activities and sports.

The students of Botany Department also presented various other skits to enthral the audience. Later, Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman gave away certificates to the students of the Botany Department.
