Lahore: Renowned scholar Prof Dr Fatah Muhammad Malik has said that differences among various sections must be used to resolve conflicts and democratic powers flourish despite ideological variations.
He was addressing a seminar titled “Contemporary Ideological Conflicts in Islamic World” organized by Department of Philosophy at Al Raazi Hall here on Friday. Chairperson Department of Philosophy Dr Shagufta Bukhari, Prof Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakria, Prof Dr Syed Akram Shah, Prof Dr Rafi uddin Hashmi, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Prof Fatah said according to Allama Iqbal, the political system of an Islamic country was democracy and there was no space for monarchy in Islam. He said that in today’s Arab world, there were conflicts among monarchist, democrat and autocrat political sections.
Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakria said that Allama Iqbal was aware of the ideological differences of Muslim rulers. He said that terming difference of opinion as treason and sectarianism were major hurdles in the development of Islamic world. He said that the capacity of comprehension could not be promoted without promotion of quality education.
Dr Shagufta Bukhari said that the ideology of Iqbal was a guide for the past, present and the future. She said that the purpose of Iqbal Memorial Lecture was to promote Iqbal’s ideology amongst youngsters.
