Lahore: The Sustainable Development Study Centre of Government College University, Lahore Monday held a one-day workshop on “Occupational Health and Safety” to apprise the students and professionals about health and safety principles and practices. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman chaired the opening ceremony of the one-day workshop which was also addressed by eminent occupational health consultants Usama Tariq and Dr Huma.
The experts told the participants about ‘workplace hazards, ‘risk control’, ‘transport hazards’, ‘work equipment hazards’, ‘electrical safety’ and ‘fire safety’, and safety techniques.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman said that in the age of technology, human life was surrounded by hundreds of electric gadgets and electromagnetic waves, but most of the people didn’t have any knowledge about their hazards to them. He also appreciated the topic of workshop, saying that it was the duty of educational institutions to raise awareness among students about their health and safety.
SDSC Incharge Dr Amtul Bari Tabinda, several professional experts from renowned companies and public sector institutions, faculty members and a large number of students attended the workshop.
