GCU Lahore: The Dramatics Club of Government College University, Lahore (GCUDC) Tuesday evening staged a special edition of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” at the Cultural Evening hosted by the university in the honour of foreign educationists of top universities of the world who came to Pakistan to attend the International Conference on ‘South Asia Policy Dialogue on Higher Education and Knowledge Parks’.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman said GC Dramatics Club started its journey in 1890 by staging selections from Shakespeare. “In a way, on this historic
occasion, the GCDC has come full circle,” he added.

The GCU Vice Chancellor also commended the young students who make up the cast of Macbeth. “I understand that this time the GCDC is using new talent. These girls have never acted before, but their voices, gestures, and powerful acting do not betray a single rookie strain. I wish them success on their performance.” he added.

liberty of experimenting with the presentation. He said in some scenes, they brought the interpretation into the play, adding that they also played with the chronology by reordering the dialogue and enactment.
