CS Punjab Expresses indignation over slow pace of work

Chief Sec Punjab 2-5-14Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Naveed Akram Cheema while giving deadline of May 31, 2014 for the completion of development schemes in Sargodha division has directed concerned departments not to compromise on quality while ensuring timely completion of development schemes.

 He was addressing a high level meeting at the office of Commissioner Sargodha division today. Commissioner Sargodha division Capt. (R) Muhammad Asif, Secretary P&D Arif Baloch, Additional Secretary Finance Ali Hassan Malik, DCOs, Chief Engineers of Irrigation, Buildings and Highways departments and divisional officers of other departments were present on the occasion. 

CS Punjab Expressed indignation over slow pace of work and  sought an inquiry report against the concerned departments and officers within 15 days.

The Chief Secretary while reviewing the pace of work on special district development package, district development programme 2013-14 and missing facilities in Sargodha division directed the administration and concerned departments to complete 100 percent work on development schemes by the end of current month. He said that it is the responsibility of Commissioner and concerned secretaries to complete the work on special development package during the current year.

He directed the commissioner to hold departments accountable for slow pace of work on development schemes and submit him report within 15 days after completing inquires against the responsible persons.

While taking strict notice of delay in the construction of protective spurs in Mianwali, he directed Chief Engineer Irrigation Department to prepare a case against the officers responsible for slow pace of the work. He stressed upon the senior officers of government departments to pay full attention to resolution of problems of the people and take measures for providing them relief. He also stressed upon them to increase contacts with the people and keep their doors open for them.

The Chief Secretary said that 90 percent problems of the people of the province are resolved if government officers listen their problems and give access to meet them. Commissioner Sargodha division while giving briefing to Chief Secretary informed that under Special District Development Package in Sargodha division, approval was given to funds of about two billion rupees for 14 development schemes during 2013-14 out of which Rs. 79 crore and 50 lakh have been released for those schemes.

He further informed that under district development programme 2013-14, funds of 22 crore rupees were released for 92 development schemes in Sargodha division. He said that more than Rs. 11 crore have been spent and these development schemes are in the final stages of completion.

The Commissioner further informed that under missing facilities in schools programme 2013-14, Rs. 48 crore were allocated for 1208 development schemes out of which funds of more than Rs. 35 crore have been spent.

The meeting also reviewed procurement of wheat and the Chief Secretary expressed satisfaction over the wheat procurement process.
