CM INAUGURATES WHEAT HARVESTING CAMPAIGN AT DEPALPUR

Shahbaz Sharif 26-4-14Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government will honour its promises made with the people at every cost. He said that all resources will be utilized for improving the living standard of common man, farmer, labourer, widow, orphan and deprived segments. He said that every penny will be spent on the welfare of common man in a transparent manner.

He expressed these views while addressing a public meeting and talking to media after inaugurating wheat harvesting campaign at Burj Ilyas, tehsil Depalpur, district Okara, today. Shahbaz Sharif said that time is not far off when tube-wells will operate 24 hours, wheel of industry will keep on moving and cheap electricity will be provided to the farmers.Shahbaz Sharif 26-4-14

The Chief Minister said that every effort is being made for overcoming energy crisis. Shahbaz Sharif said that he himself and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will not rest content till the elimination of darkness from the motherland.

He said that there is bumper wheat crop this year and Punjab government will purchase 40 lakh metric tons wheat from the farmers. He said that foolproof arrangements have been made at wheat procurement centers for ensuring due return to the farmers of their produce.

He congratulated the farmers on working day and night for putting the agri economy of the country on the road to progress and said that Allah Almighty has rewarded them on their hard work. He expressed the hope that not only wheat will be in abundance in the country but huge foreign exchange will also be earned through its export.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has taken steps for introducing modern farming methods and strengthening agri economy during last five years. He said that a comprehensive planning has been made for resolving energy crisis. He said that foundation stone of coal power plants of 2500 megawatt will be laid in May and these projects will be started at Port Qasim and Sahiwal.

He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated power plant project of 404 megawatt at Dera Murad Jamali whereas 700 megawatt project has also been made functional at Gudu.

He said that an important national project, Nandipur Power Project was not started due to criminal negligence and greed of PPP government and an additional amount of Rs.27 billion is being spent on this project.

The Chief Minister said that Nandipur Power Project was not completed in the previous tenure due to personal interest and the machinery was kept rusting at Karachi Port. He said that Chinese company returned back to China but immediately on coming into power, PML-N government revived this important national project. He said that the first turbine of Nandipur Power Project will start working next month and generate 100 megawatt electricity.

Shahbaz Sharif said the difference between PPP and PML-N government is that we take practical steps whereas PPP looted the national resources ruthlessly during its previous tenure. He said that PML-N government has started 11 energy projects in a short period of only 11 months and after completion of these projects, the darkness will be eliminated from the country forever.

He said we are aware of the fact that diesel is expensive and our farmers cannot afford to run their tube-wells by purchasing diesel on higher rates. He said that we will provide electricity to the farmers at cheaper rates.

Shahbaz Sharif directed Revenue Department to identify the land for setting up Agriculture University in Depalpur. He said that the agriculture university will bring an educational revolution in the area. He announced a grant of Rs. 10 lakh for Press Club Depalpur, setting up Trauma center in Depalpur Hospital, establishing Girls Degree College on four acre land and starting classes in a year in Depalpur

. He said that approval has already been given to the establishment of industrial estate in Depalpur.
