Lahore: Anti-Dengue Day was observed in Lahore City today. Awareness walks were held in different nooks and corners of Lahore. Awareness walk led by the Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan held from WASA Office Gulshan-e-Ravi to Dubai Chowk, Gulshan-e-Ravi was the most prominent event of the day. This walk was participated by thousands of public including political workers of PML-N, girl and boy students and people from various walks of life.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, Member National Assembly Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed and Member Punjab Assembly Mian Marghoob Ahmed addressed the participants of the walk at its terminal point.
Rana Mashhood termed the dengue mosquito as a “House Mosquito” and appealed to the people not to allow stagnant rainy water and refrain to collect even drinking water without any lid inside the household utensils so that dengue larvae would not proliferate.
Mian Marghoob Ahmed stressed upon the people to act upon the Hadith-e-Nabvi (Peace Be Upon Him) in letter and spirit in which cleanliness is regarded equal to half faith. Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed said the anti-dengue preventive measures require perpetual efforts by the whole society along with the governmental measures to eradicate dengue from our country.
The participants showed their full resolve to spread awareness among the people by distributing pamphlets and broachers about prevention measures against dengue.
Another awareness walk was held in Shalimar Town Lahore which was led by Member National Assembly Muhammad Pervez Malik.
Such awareness walks were also held in Johar Town and various other areas of the provincial metropolis today.
