Lahore: Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Syed Haroon Sultan Bokhari has said that Social Welfare Department is constructing “Beggars Home” at a cost of Rs.64.41 million in Lahore and the work has been started on it.
He said this while presiding over a departmental meeting here today. Haroon Sultan Bokhari stressed the need for eliminating beggary so that the society could be purged off this menace. He said that beggars’ homes will be constructed in Lahore and other cities under a phased programme. He said that beggars will be made skilful in these homes so that they could become useful citizens of the society.
Provincial Social Welfare Minister said that instructions have been issued to district and town administrations to take strict action against beggars as they are creating hurdles in smooth flow of traffic.
