ISPR and government press releases become a thing of the past: Irfan Siddiqui

Lahore: Advisor to the Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui Tuesday said there would be no compromise on eliminating terrorism and corruption from the society.

Action against the corrupt was being taken without any discrimination and there would be no compromise to root out the twin evils, he said talking to a news channel.

The Advisor said that Pakistan was a well-organized state as all the institutions were working under the ambit of the Constitution.He said the government believed in practical steps while its opponents were building castles in the air.There was neither a gap nor there was any chance for the same
in future between the government and the army, he added.

To a question, he said linking the National Assembly session summoned on November 20, to a particular objective was incorrect. Such thinking amounted to an irresponsible attitude, he added.
He said ISPR and government press releases had become a thing of the past.

Replying to a question about General Raheel Sharif’s visit to the US, he said the Army Chief had visited over a dozen countries, including the United States, Germany, Afghanistan, China and Saudi Arabia during the last two years where he discussed defence matters, security issues and terrorism.

To another question about reservations of a political party on the Karachi operation, he said all-out efforts were being made to address their grievances.

Referring to the code of conduct for electronic media, he said it took one and a half years to create consensus with Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) as the latter’s suggestions were incorporated.
