Lahore: Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mujtaba Shujja ur Rehman has said that besides enhancing tax net, the government is also simplifying tax collection system. He said that at the time of new taxation, difficulties of common man and low-income segments will also be kept in view and only taxable sectors will be brought under tax net.
He said that public welfare and development projects are completed through tax recovery for which the government will have to expand tax net, however, it will be kept in view that low-income citizens should not be affected at the time of taxation.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Resource Mobilization Committee. Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Farrukh Javed, Members Provincial Assembly Dr.Aisha Ghaus Pasha, Sheikh Allauddin, secretaries of finance, excise, irrigation, housing and agriculture departments, Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority, Senior Member Board of Revenue and other officers were present on the occasion.
The meeting considered display of ads at hostels, guest houses and internet in Lahore and constituted a committee comprising Secretary Excise, Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority and officers of Finance Department in this regard.
The meeting also reviewed the proposals for imposing tax on beauty parlours, slimming centers, roads and highways services, banking companies, construction services, fashion designing and concerned sectors, tour operators and a number of other fields.
