CM reviews progress on command and control center project

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that modern command and control center of Police will play an important role in improving law and order situation and controlling street crime in the province.command and control center project

He was presiding over a high level meeting at Chief Minister’s Office here today which reviewed the pace of progress on command and control center project as well as discussed various proposals in this regard.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that command and control center project is of vital importance for improving law and order situation and controlling crime.

The Chief Minister said that command and control center will operate as a completely independent and autonomous institution and will be run in an organized and scientific manner.

He said that nine divisions of the province will be linked with the command and control center through satellite under a phased programme. He said that command and control center will help keep a vigilant eye on criminals and miscreants through digital monitoring of the city and it is an important step towards making the cities safe and peaceful.

He said that work is in progress round the clock for the construction of the latest integrated command, control and communication center. He said that state-of-the-art machinery and equipments will be installed at the center. He said that in the first phase, most modern CCTV cameras will be installed at important places, bazaars and markets in the provincial metropolis while the scope of this project will also be extended to other big cities under a phased programme.

 He said survey has been completed for the installation of the latest CCTV cameras at 1800 places in Lahore and it is hoped that the project will be completed within the timeframe. Shahbaz Sharif also issued instructions for the formation of a steering committee for speedy implementation of the project.

The Chief Minister was also given a detailed briefing on the project. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and concerned officers were present on the occasion.
