Rana Mashud inaugurates youth convention

Minister EducationLahore: Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan has said that youth equipped with modern knowledge can put the country on the road to progress and prosperity.

He expressed these views while addressing inaugural ceremony of youth convention arranged by Intellectual Development and Educational Awareness Society (IDEAS) today.

Vice Chancellor Veterinary University Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha, Senior Tutor of the conference Dr. Talat Yaqub, prominent intellectual Syed Bilal Qutab, girl and boy students belonging to various universities attended the convention.

Rana Mashud said that Pakistani nation is talented but there is a need for its proper guidance. He said that only those nations have made progressed in the world which paid due attention to moral training and physical nurturing of the young generation along with imparting them modern education. He said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has upheld the supremacy of merit in education sector and rooted out safarish and booti mafia.

The Minister announced that 100 percent children would be enrolled in the schools by 2016. He said that we have enrolled 36 lakh children in primary schools this year instead of 34 lakh while this target has been fixed at 50 lakh for next year. 

Meanwhile, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan hosted a dinner at his residence in honour of intellectuals participating in the first international conference of language and literature at GC University Lahore and foreign delegates of 24th International History Conference at Punjab University Lahore.

Vice Chancellor, Principals of various public sectors and private university, parliamentary secretary on education Punjab Mst. Mehwish Sultan, prominent columnists, intellectuals and directors of British Council were also present on the occasion. VC Punjab University Dr. Mujahid Kamran, VC GC University Lahore Dr. Khaliq-ur-Rehman, VC University of Gujrat Dr. Nizam-ud-Din, Secretary Higher Education Punjab, Director WWF Ali Hassan Habib, Director British Council Richard Wiser, Chairman Punjab University History Department Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chawla, intellectual from Aligarh University India Dr. Fatima Bilgrami, Dr. Sara Ansari, Dr. Wasim Raja and Dr. Syed Liaqat Hussain Moeeni also spoke on the occasion. Dastarbandi of Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan was also performed by Dr. Syed Liaqat Husain Moeeni.
