Lahore: The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) said bureaucracy has frustrated the plan of the federal government to provide relief to masses by providing CNG seven days a week and demanded a probe against elements who have conspired to frustrate efforts of the government to fulfil its promise made during the election campaign to end long queues of vehicles at the filling stations.
The petroleum ministry tried to fulfil the pre-poll promise of the PML-N to end queues at the CNG filling stations by introducing a new schedule to provide CNG for seven days a week to the masses.
However, the decision hadn’t gone down well with the bureaucracy and the SNGPL reduced pressure of the natural gas being provided to the CNG station to an extent that the outlets could hardly operate, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that daily supply of CNG for six hours is being hindered through low pressure, daily load shedding and other schemes which amounts to punishing masses. The move has resulted in long queues at all the CNG outlets hindering traffic and wasting precious time of the motorists, he said. Masses have to wait for hours on daily basis to get insufficient quantity of fuel which has put a big question of the effectiveness of government’s introduced new schedule, he noted.
