Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that government has ensured socio-economic development of women by taking further steps for protection of their rights under Women Package 2014.
She said this while presiding over a meeting of Provincial Implementation Committee of an international convention (CEDAW) for eliminating all discriminations against women at the office of Secretary Women Development, here today.
Parliamentary Secretary for Women Development Rashida Yaqoob, Provincial Secretary Iram Bukhari, Mumtaz Mughal of Aurat Foundation, Chairperson Women Provincial Commission Fozia Waqar, representatives of Planning & Development, Higher Education, Labour, Welfare, Health, Local Government, Schools Education, Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Social Welfare departments and Shirkatgah attended the meeting.
Chairperson Aurat Foundation Mumtaz Mughal gave a detailed briefing to the meeting with regard to aims and objectives of CEDAW and its scope and appreciated the steps taken by Women Development Department for the protection of women’s rights.
Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din said that government is taking solid measures for bringing women into national mainstream and all women are benefiting from it. She said that on the direction of the government, women assembly members have been assigned duties who review the implementation on laws and awareness of rights among women in their respective areas.
