Punjab Labour Department launched automated procedure for welfare grants of factory workers

Minister Labour 14-4-14Lahore: Punjab Labour and Human Resource Department has launched computerization and automated procedure for welfare grants of factory workers and laborers’ under Punjab Workers Welfare Board throughout the province.

In an inauguration ceremony was held today at Punjab Workers Welfare Board office where minister Labor and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar inaugurated the computerization project.

Secretary Labour Cap.(R) Muhammad Yousaf, Secretary PWWD Khalid Mehmood and representatives of employers and employees along with members of Governing Body were also present at this occasion.

The Minister said that PWWB switched over from manual to computerized system to accelerate the welfare grants cases reduce prevailing loner required time, ensure transparency, enhancement of performance and reduction of workload. The project cost amounted to Rs.4.392 million and a computer along with printer and scanner has been handed over to all the 36 district officers labor in Punjab with online processing of welfare cases linked with PWWB head office.

The Minister informed that training has been imparted to the officials of the district offices labor. The system would maintain a database of all the workers along with their profiles and complete history of grants received and status of all grants applied and stages of approval. A transparent monitoring system has also been set up to evaluate the performance of all district labour offices in this regard. Each registered worker will be allocated with the universal identification number (UIN) to keep up to date record of his or her entitlement of services.
