HCPP organizes Spring Festival at University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Lahore: Spring Festival was organized at University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Lahore, main events of the day were pets & birds show, among lot of fancy birds the center of attraction was an immature male Black Shaheen (Falco Peregrinus peregrinator),large group of people including DVM students, teachers, general public visited the event, they all loved to take photos of shaheen on their hands, breath-taking seen was the flight of shaheen in open air, which everybody liked the most.

This Shaheen falcon was brought there by HCPP The Hawking Club of Punjab, Pakistan). The aim of displaying this magnificent bird was to make people aware about the species of falcons, their endangered status & also to educate the Pakistanis about historical sport of Falconry or Hawking (Baazdari) which is also an intangible cultural Heritage of our Country.

HCPP is an non-Governmental, non-profitable, non-commercial entity comprised on a group of highly qualified volunteers who having in their minds a, Mission With the belief of preserving the Raptors & Baazdari (Falconry or Hawking) in our beloved homeland, while inspiring the human spirit through, leadership in education, awareness, rescue, rehabilitation, and release.

HCPP rescued this male black shaheen about three months back from an in-experienced handler who was keeping him in an iron mesh cage causing his primary and tail feathers damaged at tips with an open wound on the cere ,he was dehydrated, underweight & now lot of people witnessed his perfect health and free flight, in pictures you can also see peregrine tiercel purchased few days back from the same sort of ignorant bird keeper, scar marks on the cere & on the left eyebrow are clearly visible.

Club Members President Kamran Abid, Vice President Rafeh Arshad Siddiqui, Founder Member Naeem Aslam Ch. Executive Members Hafiz Syed Waqas, Qumail and Hussain were present in bird section,displayed along with the Falconry furniture for the education purposes. Following are few pictures of the event,
