Food Department completes all arrangements for wheat procurement campaign 2014

Lahore: Punjab Food Department has completed all arrangements for wheat procurement campaign 2014 and transparency in provision of gunny bags to the farmers and wheat procurement will be ensured.

Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin stated this while inaugurating wheat procurement center at Wheat Godown Mughalpura, today.

Secretary Food Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, Director Food Punjab Captain Usman, Deputy Director Food Lahore Division Muhammad Hussain Khokhar, District Food Controller Lahore-I Muhammad Nasrullah, District Food Controller Lahore-II Khalid Azeem, Storage Officer Ghulam Sarwar Bhatti, Asstt. Food Controller Ghulam Chishti, Food Inspector Rana Muhammad Shakeel and Food Inspector Javed Iqbal were present on the occasion.

Provincial Minister witnessed process of wheat procurement and provision of gunny bags to the farmers. It was informed to the Minister in the meeting that jute gunny bag is available at Rs.134  and PP bag at Rs.38 only whereas wheat will be purchased at government rate of Rs.1200 per 40 kg. He was informed that the wheat procurement target of 4500 tons has been fixed at Mughalpura center which would be achieved easily.

He was told that Namberdar and representatives of Farmers Association are present during the process of wheat procurement and the report of the whole day purchase is sent to DCO regularly.

The Secretary Food said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, provincial ministers and secretaries have been deputed for monitoring wheat procurement centers across the province who will keep a vigilant eye on the process of wheat procurement and provision of gunny bags.

On this occasion, the Minister said that honesty should be observed in wheat procurement and special attention should be paid for achieving the target fixed by the department. He warned that no irregularity would be tolerated in wheat procurement.
