Begum Zakia Shahnawaz speaks at caucus of Women Members Punjab Assembly

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that Punjab government is taking practical steps for the welfare of women and strengthening them economically.

She said this while addressing a 2-day workshop of caucus of Women Members Punjab Assembly held under the aegis of UNDP at Faletti’s Hotel, here today. Besides Dr. Atiya Anayat Ullah, all women representatives of the caucus attended and addressed the workshop.

Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said that the credit of constitution of this caucus goes to all women assembly members. She said that after legislation for all problems of women and their resolution, monitoring will be carried out by this caucus. She said that all assembly members should get awareness about problems of women of their constituencies.

Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said that the journey of development of women is continuing and implementation of women package is an important step towards it, the credit of which goes to Punjab government, media, NGOs and all the women. She said that women cannot play their active role in national development till their economic, legal and social protection.

The Minister said that we have to make collective efforts for eliminating discrimination against women at all levels. She said by giving economic independence and legal protection to the women, government has proved that it is serious in resolving their problems.
