SALARIES PAID TO CONTRACT EMPLOYEES AND A FACTORY WORKER ON THE ORDERS OF OMBUDSMAN PUNJAB

Ombudsman PunjabLahore: Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood, has taken notice of delay in results of class V and VIII by Punjab Examination Commission and directed Secretary School Education to fix responsibility and report compliance to the office. He has deputed Chief Provincial Commissioner for Children, Ombudsman Punjab, as inquiry officer to probe the issue.

Ombudsman Punjab has taken notice following the media reports in which maladministration of the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) was pointed out. Media while revealing the inefficiency of the PEC reported that PEC could not safe guard the answer sheets and the same alongwith computerized record was destroyed.

Due to this, PEC prepared fake results and the candidates were deprived of their legitimate right of re-checking and re-assessment of the papers. Ombudsman Punjab said that since the matter relates to the education and future of more than 2.7 million children so their educational activities may suffer due to delay in results.

This is worst kind of maladministration on the part of PEC due to which more than 2.7 million children and their parents kept on waiting the results on scheduled day and ultimately went home hopelessly. PEC could not deliver gazettes of the results to all districts and children and parents were advised to inquire results from web site but the fact of the matter is that PEC had not uploaded the results by that time, said Ombudsman Punjab. Many schools had organized ceremonies in connection with the results which were cancelled due to the maladministration of the Punjab Examination Commission, concluded Ombudsman Punjab.
