Ombudsperson takes actions on sexual harrasments complaints

Lahore: Ombudsperson Punjab, Dr. Mira Phailbus decided the complaint of sexual harassment by one Lady Health Supervisor (LHS) of Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore against DDO (Health) Allama Iqbal Town Dr. Sarwar Sadiq and Dr. Asad Mushtaq, Medical Officer, CDGL Dispensary Dholenwal, Allama Iqbal Town under Protection against Harassment of Women of Workplace Act 2010.

According to the decision, DDO (Health) was acquitted of the charges of harassment, while Medical Officer was imposed a penalty of stoppage of annual increments for three years apart from immediate transfer of both the Medical Officer and the complainant LHS, out of the town for smooth functioning of the health facility.

Earlier, Ombudsperson Punjab, decided sexual harassment complaint lodged by a data-entry operator of City District Government Lahore against  data-entry operator of City District Government Lahore Lahore.

According to the decision, DDO (Health) was awarded penalty of withholding of annual increments for three years and immediate transfer from administrative post. The decision was announced after a thorough inquiry which was conducted on the complaint under Protection of Women against Harassment at Workplace Act 2010.

Both decisions would be implemented within one week as stipulated period according to the Act.
