Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Central Information Secretary Senator Kamil Ali Agha has said that for cheap electricity and averting drought threat permanently Kalabagh Dam was essential, figures presented by Moonis Elahi about Kalabagh Dam were facts and thinking was PML stance, youth throughout Pakistan should pressurize and force the govt to construct Kalabagh Dam instead of buying electricity from India, construction of the mega dam will generate 3600 megawatt of power at the cost of Rs 2. 50 per unit resulting in annual saving of Rs 180 billion.

Talking to the media people here today, he said that PML’s young leadership Moonis Elahi through researched and investigated facts and figures has pointed out that Kalabagh Dam was the project of Pakistan and not just of Punjab, Sindh would benefit the most from it, with the construction of the mega dam Sindh will get 40 lakh acres of feet, Khyber Pukhtoonkhwah 22 lakhs acres feet, Punjab 20 lakhs acres feet and Balochistan will receive 15 lakhs acres feet of additional water which will usher in green revolution and Pakistan would also join food exporting countries rank besides becoming self-sufficient in food grain.

He further said had there been Kalabagh Dam then tragedies of losses of precious lives in Thar and in floods along with destruction of properties. Citing the facts and figures of Moonis Elahi, Senator Kamil Ali Agha said that the country had suffered huge losses more than 9. 5 billion dollars in 2010 floods and we could construct Kalabagh Dam in less than this cost which would have averted threat of devastation due to floods and substantial water would have also been available for meeting the urgent requirements.

He said India was pursuing the filthy policy of destroying Pakistan without fighting a war, youth of Pakistan should foil this conspiracy through mutual consensus.
