Lahore: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Monday said CNG would be available across Punjab on daily basis from today (April 01) after a gap of three long years.
The SNGPL has issued a notification in this regard on Monday authorising CNG outlets to remain open from 10 am to 4 pm daily and from 6 am to 12 in the midnight on Sundays.
In a statement issued here today, Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA said that the strategic decision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have provided great relief to masses.
He said that the farsighted decision will help masses as well as CNG operators who were facing load shedding since three years while it would help stabilise the limping CNG industry.
Ghiyas Paracha said that the decision of the government will help owners of 3.5 million vehicles using CNG and 80 million masses using public transport. Moreover it will reduce inflation, pollution and oil import bill to stabilise the local currency.
Availability of CNG across the province for seven days a week will also help government save gas and electricity in peak hours, he added.
The leader of the CNG sector said that government has provoked hope in the dejected masses and investors which may trigger new investments in this sector.
The CNG decision speaks of the government’s positive priorities and keeping the merit above all considerations, said Paracha.
