Lahore: Parliamentary Secretary Agriculture Punjab Rana Ijaz Ahmed Noon said that Muhammad Shamim was a liver patient who had submitted an application to Punjab Chief Minister for financial assistance for liver transplant last year. The Chief Minister had transferred Rs.35 lakh to Shaikh Zayed Hospital account as financial assistance for his treatment last year.
Rana Ijaz further said that after the death of Muhammad Shamim, his son Muhammad Waseem again submitted an application to the Chief Minister saying that he has become under debt due to burial expenses of his father and wants financial assistance. The Chief Minister issued him a cheque for three lakh rupees and he handed over the cheque to Muhammad Waseem.
DCO Multan Zahid Saleem Gondal was also present on the occasion. He clarified that financial assistance for liver transplant of Muhammad Shamim had been provided last year and this cheque was not for the expenses of liver transplant of Muhammad Shamim but issued as financial assistance to Muhammad Waseem, son of the deceased.
