Lahore: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Mr. Justice Umar Ata Bandial has said that duty of Judges is to serve the nation through judgments. Balanced judgments check cruelty and barbarism as a good decision can create peace and harmony in region and blocks bloodshed.
Chief Justice was addressing to a certificate award ceremony of a four-weeks Pre-Service Training Course for newly appointed Civil Judges-cum-Magistrates at Punjab Judicial Academy. The greatest virtue of an adjudicator was contentment and uprightness that led him to a just and quick decision.
Chief Justice asked the participant judges to hold court with peace of mind and without any fear because not only Lahore High Court but Supreme of Court of Pakistan was also on their back. Hon’ble Chief Justice said that it was his obligation to provide an environment of tranquility and peace for safeguarding the litigant public, advocates community as well as judicial officers.
Chief Justice also advised the judges to give a patient hearing to all the parties irrespective of their status and listen the counsel attentively so that no body could complain against their attitude.
Mr. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court speaking on the occasion advised the participant judges to have grip on law by developing a habit of regular reading. He also expressed the resolve to make the Academy a seat of learning by launching more robust, innovative and dynamic programmes aimed at improving practical and theoretical legal knowledge.
Director General of the Academy, Sohail Nasir said that under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, the Academy has devised a variety of informative and practical programmes and the participant judges were lucky in the sense that three judges from Supreme Court of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court and a number of Judges of Lahore High Court have shared their knowledge and expertise in the field of law with them.
