Govt College for Women Baghbanpura won a competition of national songs

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Zakat and Ushr, Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that no one can change the geography of a nation which does not forget its history. He said that only those nations live forever which commemorate their national festivals and historical events. He expressed these views while speaking at a competition of national songs held in connection with Pakistan Day at Government APWA College for Women, here today. The wife of the Minister was also present on the occasion.

The Minister said that history is witness to the fact that only those countries have made speedy progress where women worked shoulder to shoulder with the men. He said that after completion of education, women should not sit at their homes but come into the practical field for taking part in the process of national development.

Thirteen girls’ colleges of Lahore participated in the competition. Nuzhat Iqbal of Govt. College for Women Baghbanpura won the first position, Maria Rasheed of APWA College secured the second position while Sania Saeed of Govt. Dev Samaj Higher Secondary School got the third position. Adima Nadeem of Kannaird College was given a special prize. Wajahat Atray, Dr. Amjad Pervaiz and composer and singer Azfar Hussain acted as judges.

The Minister while highlighting the importance of Pakistan Day said that the Muslims of the sub-continent set their goal on this day and as such it was a momentous occasion in the national history. He said that Pakistan came into being due to untiring struggle of the Muslims. He said that there is a need to revive the spirit of Pakistan Movement so that the sacrifices of the forefathers of the country should not go waste.

College Principal Parveen Kausar Shah presented address of welcome and highlighted significance of Pakistan Day. She also presented a report regarding curricular and extracurricular activities of the college.
