Lahore: In order to combat terrorism, elimination of crime and to meet the serious security challenges, police officers should be on the same page as an organized force and they should come forward in practical fields to avert the Muzaffar Garh incident in future.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Khan Baig while addressing the RPO conference at the central police office today. Additional-IG Punjab Sarmad Saeed Khan, Additional-IG R&D Punjab, Altaf Hussain, Additional IG Training Punjab, Capt. ® Muhammad Usman Khatak, DIG R&D Punjab, Ghualm Mahmood Dogar, DIG Establishment Punjab, Amjad Javed Saleemi, CCPO Lahore Ch. Shafiq Ahmed, DIG Investigation, Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed all the RPOs and DPOs and Acting-DIG (Operations) Lahore Rana Adul Jabbar, SSP R&D Kashif Kanju, AIG (Operations) Waqas Nazir and PSO to IGP Muhammad Ali Nakokara attended the conference.
To enhance the capacity building of the police it was decided to activate the Police Lines Training schools alongwith the initiation of training courses such as judicial guard, field craft, investigation, weapon training besides behavior courses. The conference also decided to upgrade the standard of barracks, mess and canteens of the lines so that the healthy officials could be produced.
While reviewing the security of the police formations, official buildings and important places of the province a comprehensive security strategy and response time was also finalized in case any untoward situation.
It was decided in the conference to take other agencies on board for the monitoring of non residents and foreigners and there business places.
A decision to start a massive crack down across the province against those who indulged in provoking sectarianism and founded to be guilty in violation of sectarian laws. It was also decided to take strict action against those who are involved in financing and facilitating these sectarian criminals.
In the conference, the powers of the police under PAKISTAN PROTECTION ACT, FAIR TRIAL ACT and ANTI TERRORIST ACT were also discussed in details.
The provincial police chief directed the officers to maintain the salary data of retired officers/officials in their respective districts so that stern action could be taken against those who are still drawing there salaries after retirement.
The conference also reviewed thoroughly the performance of model police stations and installation of PROMIS system in these stations. Moreover, arrest of hardened POs, Murder cases and its investigation progress, arrest of murderers, street crimes, dacoity and dacoity with murder respectively.
