Landlords chopped off the nose of a girl over matrimonial dispute

Lahore High Court Complaint Cell took notice of a press report on administrative side that influential landlords allegedly chopped off the nose of a labourer’s daughter over matrimonial dispute.

The Cell has directed the District & Sessions Judge, Bahawalnagar to look into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by police along with his own comments within a week.

According to details, Jamshed and Nadeem, residents of Basti Sherwali along with their five accomplices stormed the house of a labourer, Bashir. The suspects subjected Fareeda Bibi, 20, daughter of Bashir, to severe torture and chopped off her nose before fleeing the scene. Victim’s family said Fareeda was punished because she refused the marriage proposal of Jamshed’s son with her. As per press report, earlier the accused party had tried to abduct the girl but the bid was foiled by her relatives.

The police had registered a case against seven suspects on the victim’s complaint, with no arrest so far.
