Lahore: The Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) 2014 Inter Divisional level is in full swing here at the various venues of the city.
On Wednesday, the competitions of Women Hockey, Taekwondo (Men And Women), Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Touchball And Athletics Events were held. In PYF Education Sector College Women Hockey Competitions, Lahore outclassed Multan 2-0 to lift the title. Shafaq was the player who smashing two goals to guide his team to victory. In University Women Hockey Final, Punjab University thrashed University of Sargodha 4-0 to clinch the trophy. For Punjab University, Asma Ashraf hammered two goals while Bushra and Munazza scored one goal each.
In University Women Taekwondo Competitions, Saira Sultan claimed gold medal in 48kg Weight Category while Madiha Batool of Sargodha University received silver medal. The 52kg Category gold medal went to Aqsa Shafaat of Faisalabad University while Irum Ramzan of Islamia University Bahawalpur won silver. The 58 kg category gold medal was won by Noor Asif of Punjab University while silver was secured by Saima of Faisalabad University.
In Men’s Taekwondo Events Of the PYF, M. Shahrukh of Institute of South Punjab won gold medal in 55kg weight category, Azhar Hussain of Islamia University of Bahawalpur clinched gold in 65kg category while 69kg category gold medal went to Faheem Khan of PU and silver to Junaid Akram of Gift University Gujranwala.
In Volleyball College Events of the PYF, Faisalabad overwhelmed Lahore 2-0. Amna Zafar was declared the best player of the tournament while in volleyball university events, Lahore edged out Bahawalpur to grab the title. Rubina Kausar was named Best Player Of The Tournament.
Kinnaird College and Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) won the PYF Inter-Divisional Basketball College And University Level Titles. MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir distributed prizes among the winners.
In the Final Of College Girls’ Basketball, hosts Kinnaird College, representing Lahore, thrashed Sargodha by 74-5 and defended their title with a massive victory. Mehru Khan remained the prominent contributor for the winning team with 32 points while Amna Mukhtar (18), Dania (14) and Khadeeja Mukhtar (10) also played key role for their team. LCWU, which represented Lahore in University Girls’ Basketball, toppled Sargodha by 18-10 in the title clash. Asma Akram and Sana Azmat scored six and five points for the victorious team.
The General Public Football Event of the PYF was won by Faisalabad who defeated Lahore 4-3. The Final Of University Football Event was won by Lahore who beat Sargodha 6-5 in a thriller while the college football event title also went to Lahore who outclassed Gujranwala 2-0.
The Inter Divisional PYF Touchball Event Title went to Faisalabad who played well against Lahore and won the final 7-3. Zubair (3) and Mazhar (3) played well for the winners. In the third place Match Of Touchball Event, Bahawalpur defeated Multan 3-2. Amir scored two and Asghar one in the match.
