Lahore: Chairman Police Reforms Committee Col R. Shuja Khanzada has said that Punjab government is going to introduce a new system for computerization of Punjab Police Department for facilitating public, improving departmental efficiency and providing sufficient safeguard for securing data bank of the existing system.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting regarding Punjab Police Reforms through information technology. The Minister said that the Punjab Police computerization system shall be implemented in 850 police stations in the province alongwith 1250 allied police offices of the department. He said that Punjab Police and PITB shall be responsible for sponsoring, execution, operation and maintenance of the project.
Col. R. Shuja Khanzada said that this system will be integrated with NADRA for verification of antecedents of suspects for quick investigation. He informed that biometric devises will be placed at police stations to get the finger prints of suspects and offenders.
The minister said that a better information and communication technology system will raise police productivity. Inspector General Police Punjab Khan Baig was also present in the meeting.
