Lahore: 6-member delegation led by Country Head Drugs and Crimes Unit of UNO, César Guedes called on Provincial Minister for Local Government and Law Rana Sanaullah Khan at Civil Secretariat, here today.
The delegation included Senior Programme Officer Syed Arslan, Advisors Coli Brown, Naveed Riaz, Dr. Nadeem-ur-Rehman, Ms. Anne Bergenstrom, Col. Retd. Ghulam Abbas and Col. Retd. Ahmad Saud. Secretary Home and IG Prisons were also were present on the occasion.
César Guedes informed that drugs and crimes unit of United Nations is extending cooperation to Punjab government in different programmes. He informed that the unit is also providing assistance to Punjab government in criminal justice system, jail reforms and better policing. He said that his institution has set up computer-based training centers for Police, FIA, Anti-Narcotics Force, Customs and Rangers. He further informed that Drugs and Crimes Unit is also providing awareness and funds for the treatment and control of aids.
Provincial Minister for Law and Local Government, Rana Sanaullah Khan while talking to the delegation said that cooperation of UNODC in the above mentioned sectors is exemplary which will help in capacity building and improving the performance of our institutions. Secretary Home apprised the members of the delegation of working of different departments and their aims and objectives.
