Women development week will be observed in the first week of March:Iqbal Chanar

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Cooperatives, Malik Iqbal Channar during meeting with delegations of girl students of different colleges said that women development week will be observed in the first week of March in connection with International Women Day. He said that seminars would be conducted in government colleges and private and public sector universities of the province for improving social status of the women and including them in decision making process at national level. He said that different functions will be held from March 5 to 7 at district and divisional level for creating awareness among the people about women’s rights in which elected public representatives, office-bearers of welfare organizations and concerned departments besides a large number of women will participate.

He said that on March 8, on the occasion international women day, amended draft of law for protection to women rights will be passed in the provincial assembly. Special functions will be held in the honour of women playing their role in the development of country by rendering invaluable services in different walks of life throughout the province. Women excellence award ceremony will also be held at Governor House Lahore on March 9.
