Lahore: Provincial Minister for Finance, Mujtaba Shaujja ur Rehman has said that the government is paying special attention to upgradation of school education and IT labs were set up in more than 5000 high schools and 515 middle schools during the last five years whereas funds are being provided on priority basis for the provision of IT labs and necessary facilities in the schools during current financial year. He said that meeting of Provincial Austerity Committee will be held on weekly basis so that government departments could take approval every week for their expenses. He said that in future, this meeting would be held one very Monday.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Provincial Austerity Committee. Members Provincial Assembly Waheed Gul, Rauf Mughal, officials of Finance Department, Provincial Secretaries, DOCs and officers of educational boards attended the meeting. Mujataba Shauja ur Rehman directed the officials of Finance Department that the departments should directly purchase the daily use items of less value and there is no need of any permission of the committee.
During the meeting, the committee gave approval to the expenses of the Agriculture, Education, Pindi Islamabad Metro Bus, Police, Housing and other departments. The Minister said that the objective of getting approval of Austerity Committee for vehicles and other heavy expenses is to save the money for utilization on development projects.
