Curbing child marriages bill will be presented soon in Punjab Assembly: MPA Hina Butt

Lahore: PML-N MPA Hina Parvez Butt said that the Punjab government step to amend to Legislation regarding curbing child marriages would be a big step towards eradicating the menace.

She said that girls normally affected more than boys in such marriages, a bill will be presented soon in Punjab Assembly in this regard. The MPA stressed that besides government’s efforts, it was the society’s duty to play a vibrant role to curb this tendency. Child marriages are very common in rural areas as compare to cities, so it is important to educate people regarding the effects of early marriages, she pointed out, adding that even Islam did not permit violation humans’ rights.

The MPA added that effective legislation would be made against other such social evils in society including dowry, violence on home maids, child labour and rape cases. She stressed the need for collective efforts to fight all such social evils to ensure peace and tranquillity in society.
