Maryam Nawaz is ranked fourth among the list of the personalities most searched

Lahore: According to latest available statistics for the leading internet search engine Google, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the daughter of the Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif is ranked fourth among the list of the personalities most searched about by the Pakistani internet users.

On the top of the most searched for list is Paul Walker, leading actor in the popular “Fast and the Furious” Hollywood movie series, followed by the late Bollywood actress Jiah Khan who allegedly committed suicide in her Mumbai apartment earlier this year. Quite understandably, the renowned South African revolutionary politician, philanthropist and a Nobel laureate, Nelson Mandela holds the number three slot. MQM’s quaid Altaf Hussain had also made to the list, holding the sixth slot.

It is to be noted that amongst the top-ten most searched personalities in Pakistan, only three hail from Pakistan. These, besides Maryam Nawaz Sharif, include MQM’s Altaf Hussain and the bride of the recently wedded pop singer Atif Aslam, Mrs. Sara Bharwana. Statistics show that news regarding late Imran Farooq’s murder case aroused the interest of the Pakistani internet users in the MQM’s quaid Mr. Altaf Hussain who is currently residing in London.

There are about 40 million internet users in Pakistan, majority of which are youth. Experts are of the opinion that Maryam Nawaz’s fourth rank in the google trends list reflects her popularity among the Pakistani youth.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s popularity rose to its peak during this year’s election campaign and on the PMLN’s unprecedented victory in the general elections. Political experts suggest that they way Maryam Nawaz secured the youth’s votes for PMLN during the election campaign, may quintessentially lead her to play a major political role in near future.

Also, it is believed that her current role as the Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth program may immensely add to her popularity.
