Ombudsman Punjab office observe “Pensioners Day

Lahore:  “Pensioners Day” was observed in all offices of Provincial Ombudsman in which a number of employees from Naib Qasid to Grade-20 participated and submitted applications regarding their problems to the Incharge Ombudsman Punjab Pension Cell, Wazir Ahmed Qureshi.

Ombudsman Balochistan Muhammad Wasey Tareen was the chief guest in an open kutchehry held at Pensioners Day. Ombudsman Balochistan Muhammad Wasey Tareen while appreciating the steps introduced by Ombudsman Punjab for providing relief to the retired employees said that observing Pensioners Day and establishing Ombudsman Punjab Pension Cell are commendable and these steps would also be introduced in Balochistan.

He said that the miseries of those who served the country for their whole life will have to be realized. He said that the steps taken for providing relief to the pensioners will certainly yield results.

On this occasion, pensioners submitted their complaints in a large number to Lahore office of Ombudsman Punjab. Retired government officials from Grade-1 to 20 attended the open kutchehry where a deaf young man pointed out the matter of dues of his deceased wife through gesture of his hands.

Pensioners submitted their complaints about the improper attitude of bank employees and insufficient facilities. They demanded that on Pensioners Day, an inquiry should be completed in open kutchehry by calling for the concerned departments. Office-bearers of staff union of Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) complained that the administration of PSIC has once again refused to increase the pension of retried employees whereas besides Ombudsman Punjab, Lahore High Court has already issued orders in this regard. Pensioners above the age of 75 years requested Ombudsman Punjab to get implemented his decision with regard to double pension.

In-charge Pension Cell Ombudsman Punjab, Wazeer Ahmed Qureshi said that the constitution guarantees self-respect to every citizen and Ombudsman Punjab office is determined to revive the self-respect of every pensioner as a senior citizen. He said that pensioners are also endeavouring for their rights and now their voice cannot be suppressed. Pensioners also thanked Ombudsman Punjab for taking keen interest in resolving their pension matters and declaring 15th of every month as Pensioners’ Day.
