APCNGA kicks off protest movement

Lahore: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has kicked off protest movement against unconstitutional and illegal disconnection of natural gas to the CNG sector.

In this regard, the CNG operators, laid off workers and transporters will hold a protest on Kacheri chowk Rawalpindi at 10.30 am to press for their demands.

Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA has said that gas was disconnected to CNG and other sector on the pretext of non-availability of the commodity in the system due to enhanced demand by domestic consumers.

But now, he said, government has initiated efforts to restore supply to the industrial sector which was already using electricity, coal, fuel and other alternatives to continue operations.

However, the CNG sector which lacks any alternative to the natural gas has again been ignored which is unacceptable.

Paracha said that restoring gas supply for three to four days for eight hours will save hundreds of thousands of jobs, Rs 450 billion investment in the CNG sector and bring Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) on road minimising miseries of the masses.

He informed that around thirty thousand PSVs in the twin cities do not have petrol tanks which have gone off the road due to CNG disconnection.

The CNG operators and transporters have asked the PM to intervene and save jobs, businesses as well as investments in these hard times.
