Lahore High Court (LHC) has disposed of a notice “abduction and murder of 9-year-old boy” as complete police report in the case has been submitted before the Anti Terrorism Court, Bahawalpur and accused has been sentenced to death.
According to details, 9-year-old son of Zulfiqar was kidnapped for ransom. Kidnappers had demanded Rs. 3 million. The victim approached police who dilly dally lodged the complaint but not mentioned the ransom amount demanded by the captors. Police aslo arrested a suspect but let him go two days later. And on the very next day, they found the child’s body in fields in front of the police station. Zulfiqar had named two suspects but police let both of them go free. The family of deceased child staged a protest on the DCO Chowk Bahawalpur for the arrest of culprits.
After cognizance of LHC Complaint Cell D&SJ Bahawalpur submitted that police arrested one accused Muhammad Hanif while the other accused got pre-arrest bail. A team comprising 5-police officers investigated the matter and the incomplete challan of the case was been submitted before the relevant court.
LHC Complaint Cell once again directed the DSJ to submit police report u/s 173 Cr. P.C. within three day and then the probe was shifted to CIA who also interrogated another accused Muhammad Naeem but during investigation Umar Hayat and Muhammad Naeem were declared innocent. Arrest warrants for the arrest of Mst. Nikan Mai were obtained from Special Judge, Anti Terrorism Court due to her anticipated involvement but she has not been arrested so far. However, complete police report u/s 173 Cr. P.C. against accused Muhammad Hanif was submitted in the said court who was sentenced him to death in the said case. On basis of above, as needful has been done Complaint Cell disposed off the notice into the matter.
