Lahore: The Government College University, Lahore Ravians Law Society Tuesday held a one-day seminar in connection with the International Human Rights Day. Punjab Secretary Law Syed Abdul Hassan Najmee and GCU Political Science Department Chairman Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt addressed the seminar which was attended by a large number of students and faculty members.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Law Mr Najmee mentioned that Islam introduced the concept the rights to the human beings on equal grounds. The Constitution of Pakistan enlists human rights on the lines of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which according to the speaker, are in line with the rights given by Islam. Mr Najmee said that the human rights were ensured by the governments; but there were various areas where governments could reach without infringing the right to privacy of the citizens. “Therefore, it is the duty of the civil society and individuals to ensure each other’s rights,” he added.
