Prosecutors to bring the criminals to their logical end: Rana Maqbol Ahmad

Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab and former Inspector General, Rana Maqbol Ahmad has said that the sole responsibility of the prosecutors is to bring the criminals to their logical end. It is a remarkable achievement of the prosecution department that within last one month, Justice Syed Mazhar Ali Naqvi’s court has ordered death sentence to four criminals of heinous crimes and eight were sentenced life imprisonment. These criminals were involved in heinous crimes like of murder and ransom.

Rana Maqbool Ahmad said that while addressing to the monthly performance review meeting of Prosecution department. While addressing to the meeting he said that as per the vision of Chief Minister Punjab the Prosecution department is performing a vital role for deliverance of Justice. It’s a new tradition that the department, on behalf of estate, has appealed in high court for 400 cases during current year and got the criminals chastised. It is because of the hard work put in by the prosecutors that in 12 different cases of anti terrorism act, the criminals were sentenced to either death or life imprisonment  in just past one month within Lahore high court.

Rana Maqbool added that we’ll award best performing prosecutors and give them promotions.

Secretary Prosecution Nadeem Irshad Kiani said that we have introduced training sessions for prosecutors and brain storming sessions of Police-Prosecution are being arranged. DDPP Tariq Javed in a briefing said that criminals named Khurram Shahzad, Zafar Iqbal, Faisal Abbas and Aziz Khan were announced death penalty during last month and Umar Daraz, Haleem, Zahid Shah, M.Akram and Sohaib Jameel were given life imprisonment.
