Pak-Turk International School’s student gives an idea“cleaning without a broom

Lahore: The 3-day Punjab Provincial Science Fair-2013 organized with the collaboration of the government of Punjab, INTEL and National Museum of Science and Technology concluded. The Science Fair was held in Central Model   Boys High School, Retigon Road Lahore.

Provincial Secretary Schools Education Punjab Abdul Jabbar Shaheen gave away prizes to the position holders of the Science Fair. Boy and girl students from all over the Punjab had participated in the fair through their scientific projects, models and research papers on various scientific topics.

The Secretary Schools Education Punjab lauded the efforts of the students belonging to the public sector schools who remained prominent in this fair. While expressing his satisfaction over the performance of youngsters particularly from Bahawalpur, Vehari, Dera Ghazi Khan and Lahore, the Secretary noted that all the participants showed clear concepts about their relevant projects when enquired about the philosophy of the subject in which they had prepared models. This clear mindedness regarding concepts of knowledge will surely broaden their mental horizon and will help proceed them to higher levels of knowledge in the future. He directed the school teachers to refrain from “rote learning” method and “one way traffic” in the class room. Rather they should focus on interaction with the students to ensure that the concepts in the minds of their students have cleared or not.

Zoraid Tariq, a physics student of Pak-Turk International School Lahore has been declared the best student for presenting a project titled “cleaning without a broom” while a research paper titled “Reducing fats by using herbs like cinnamon, fellal seeds, carom seeds and green cardimum” was selected for competition in the national science fair to be held in Islamabad. This research paper was presented in the Punjab Provincial Science Fair by Miss Warda Imran and Miss Zainab Iqbal, the students of 9^th class in Kinnaird Girls High School Lahore under the supervision of their teacher Ms. Sadaf Iqbal.
