Secretary Labour constitutes special teams for checking the petrol pumps

Lahore: On the instructions of Secretary Labour and Human Resources Capt. Retd. Muhammad Yousaf, special teams constituted for scrutiny of weights and measures are checking the weighing scales used at petrol pumps, shops and business centers on daily basis.

District Officer Labour, Muhammad Naeem informed that 1523 nozzles of 268 petrol pumps were checked out of 176 nozzles were sealed as per law due to short measure. Furthermore, legal action was taken against the owners of these petrol pumps and 249 challans were submitted to the courts and a fine of 6,24,300 rupees was imposed against 127 challans. Similarly, weighing scales of 2448 shopkeepers were checked and 945 challans against short measures were submitted to the concerned courts and a fine of Rs. 28000 was imposed against 52 challans. Due to short measures 75 weighing scales were confiscated.

Labour and Human Resource Department has warned the persons involved in short measuring to set right their petrol pumps and weighing balances otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
