Home-based workers are uplifting the country’s economy

Zakia Shah Nawaz-1Zakia Shah Nawaz1Lahore: Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that home-based workers are playing an important role in the uplift of country’s economy and consultation on legislation for the protection of their rights is continuing.

She was addressing a conference held under the aegis of Home Net at a local hotel, here today. The Minister said that all stakeholders should formulate legal draft in mutual consultation for presenting the same to the government for approval. She said that besides making law, its implementation is also necessary and it will be possible only if the measures taken in this regard are reviewed and monitored.

Director Labour Syed Hasnaat Javed, DG Social Welfare Hafiz Akram, Director Planning Social Welfare Muhammad Salman, former member assembly Mehnaz Rafi and Salman Abid also spoke on the occasion. Women Members Provincial Assembly Sunail Rath, Begum Nasreen Nawaz, Naseem Bano, Salma Shaheen Nibera Andleeb, Dr. Ayesha Ghous, Kaneez Akhtar, Shameem Akhtar, Farzana Butt and Dr. Nosheen Hamid were also present in the conference.
