HCP celebrates Worlds Falconry Day

: HCP Celebrates World Falconry Day : HCP Celebrates World Falconry Day : HCP Celebrates World Falconry Day DSCN0080Lahore: The Hawking Club of Punjab(HCP) arranged a seminar in collaboration with Vets Care Club & Vets Care Organization Pakistan, to celebrate Worlds Falconry Day,”A Living Human Heritage”on 25-11-2013 at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore.

As Falconry was added to the list of “the Intangible Cultural Heritage of humanity”,by UNESCO(United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation)on 16th of November 2010,and in its reminiscence declared 16th November as WORLD FALCONRY DAY  to be celebrated each year.

In this Seminar the goal was to provide awareness about Falconry and its related issues to our vets for the protection and rehabilitation of rare Birds of Prey and to ensure the Modern revival of Falconry.

President HCP Kamran Abid & Vice President Rafeh Arshad Siddiqui gave presentations about Birds of Prey species and their use in Falconry & their management in Captivity,respectively.

Miss.Uzma from WWF Pakistan Vulture Project,shared her efforts in saving the endangered white backed Vultures and their present status.

Assistant Director Wild Life & Parks Punjab Zahid Iqbal Khan delivered his views on this Falconry Day and encouraged the Vets to join such Conservation Programs.

Mian Muhammad Tariq Ex.Advisor to Chief Minister of Punjab was also included in the list of chief guests, gave very positive and encouraging views and insisted to arrange such positive activities in future to enhance awareness and importance of Wild Life in our Society

Mrs.Shahzadi Shamim Akhtar MPA(Member of Provincial Assembly Punjab)also came there on our invitation and ensured us that she will raise voice in Punjab Assembly for the recognition of Falconry as our Cultural Heritage.

The Seminar Ended after 45 mins with this message,”Save Birds of Prey for Our future Generations”.
