CM approves police’s new command and control system

CM PUNJAB-1 (2)Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that modern technology would be utilized for eradication of crimes and curbing anti- social elements as a number of countries of the world have controlled crimes by using latest technology. He said that there is a need for Punjab police to adopt modern technology and evolve an effective system of rooting out crimes. He said that the project of Coordinated Command and Control Center of Punjab police is of vital importance as its implementation will rid the people of Thana culture while a traditional police culture will also be changed. Granting approval to the setting up of Coordinated Command and Control Center in Lahore as well as other big cities of Punjab, the Chief Minister directed that the project be implemented expeditiously.He was presiding over a high level meeting at Model Town here today which reviewed the project of Coordinated Command and Control Center of Punjab police.

Provincial Minister Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada, Secretary Home, Inspector General Police Punjab, CCPO Lahore and concerned officers were present. An international expert Dr. Amanat who has received training from Britain gave a briefing on coordinated command and control system.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the use of modern technology is essential for rooting out crimes and therefore speedy progress be made in this direction. He said that police force be introduced to latest technology for fighting crime and improving law and order situation. He said that intelligence sharing system can be further improved through the use of modern technology.

He said that the project of command and control center would help root out criminal elements as well as monitor the performance of police officials at police stations and their behavior with the citizens. He said that Punjab government will take all possible measures for transforming Thana culture. He said that revolutionary measures will be taken to redress grievances of the people at police stations.

He said that government has resolved to change Thana culture and the project of coordinated command and control center is a step in this direction. He said that the setting up of this modern center will bring about a visible change in the traditional culture of police.

The Chief Minister said that coordinated command and control center should be state-of-the- art and a high standard be maintained in the completion of the proposed project. He said that sub-command and control centers will also be set up in every division of Punjab.

The Chief Minister constituted a committee to identify suitable site for the establishment of command and control center and directed the committee to complete the task as soon as possible so that the project could be initiated without any delay. The meeting reviewed various proposals for the implementation of the project expeditiously.
