Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Sultan-ul-Arfeen Hazrat Sultan Bahu was among the greatest Sufi saints who promoted peace, brotherhood and tolerance in the subcontinent especially Punjab. He said that Hazrat Sultan Bahu gave a lesson of interfaith harmony and humanism through his poetry and writings. He said that extremism, intolerance and sectarian prejudices can be countered and a peaceful society be created by acting upon the teachings of Sufi saints.
The Chief Minister in a message to a two-day conference, Bahu Aman Basti, arranged by Bahu Academy and Punjabi Institute of Language and Culture said that the holding of the conference in the present critical situation will help in maintaining law and order, Islamic brotherhood and tranquility as well as eliminating sectarianism. He said that unfortunately Pakistan is facing a number of internal and external challenges which will have to be countered by the nation through forging unity. The Chief Minister expressed the hope that the intellectuals and thinkers invited to the conference will provide guidance to the society in the light of their knowledge and experience and assured that government will give due consideration to their recommendations.
Prominent columnists, intellectuals and poets from all over the country participated in the conference and paid homage to Hazrat Sultan Bahu.
