Salman Rafique presides over a meeting of principals of medical colleges

Lahore: Advisor to the Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh. Salman Rafiq has directed senior doctors to examine the dengue patients in private hospitals and send report to the Health Department on regular basis. He further directed the administration of government hospitals to mention complete address and contact number of dengue patient on admission form instead of mentioning only locality of the patient. He said that incomplete address of dengue patient creates problem in case response and indoor residual spray.

Besides, Special Secretary Health Babar Hayat Tarar, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University, Prof. Faisal Masood, Director general Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof Mahmood Shoukat, MS Jinnah Hospital Dr. Abdul Rauf, Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences Prof. Muhammad Hafeez Butt, MS Services Hospital Dr. Rehana Malik, Principal Fatima Jinnah Medical College Prof. Dr. Sardar Farukh Imam, MS Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Dr. Umer Farooq Baloch, Principal PGMI Prof Anjum Habib Vohra, MS LGH Dr. Amjad Shahzad, Acting MS Mayo Hospital Dr. Abdul Majeed Ch. and Associate Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Khan of FJMC attended the meeting. The meeting discussed in detail regarding medical treatment and case management of dengue patients. Professor Faisal Masood said that all the Teaching Hospitals should implement the SOPs prepared for dengue patients two years back. He informed that Dengue Experts Advisory Group has trained doctors of government as well as private hospitals and the training of new doctors is also continuing.

It was decided that medical officer would not discharge dengue patient from the hospital without the advice of consultant and all the patients coming with dangerous signs of dengue fever must be admitted in the hospital. Kh. Salman Rafique directed that complete address of the patient must be mentioned at the admission form of dengue patient as the incomplete address creates difficulties in case response. He also directed that the disease diagnosed by the clinicians must be mentioned at the discharge slip of the dengue patient. He further said that Allah Almighty has controlled over death and life however, the mortality rate can be reduced by improving the clinical management. Special Secretary Health Babar Hayat Tarar directed the Medical Superintends to furnish weekly duty roster of senior registrars deputed in dengue wards on every Saturday regularly and senior doctors of government hospitals must examine dengue patients under treatment in private hospitals and send report to Health Department on daily basis. .
